Oracle BI for Office

Too often underestimated this Oracle BI client for Microsoft Office. Let’s see how we can install and use it.

First you need to log in to Oracle BI and download the client from the dedicated hyperlink. We can find it on the main page, in the “Introduction” section, click on the link “Download BI desktop tools“:

Select “Oracle BI for MS Office“:

Now we can execute the setup program:

When setup is finished, the plugin will be installed in Excel:

Now click on “Settings” to set the connection to Oracle BI repository. In the tab “Connections” click “New”:

You have to set a series of simple parameter, leave application name as default, and change server name and port with value of you OBI installation:

After the connection setup, click on “Login” icon on Excel toolbar and you see the login popup:

Now you are connected to your repository. On the right you see a new panel (Oracle BI Task Pane) with a list of accessible forder:

Now you can select a table, a pivot or a graph from one of your analysis and drag it in excel sheet…
